About us
Ecoshelter seeks to provide sustainable living solutions for communities in need, including
•Disaster Relief (eg following an earthquake, landslide or tsunami)
•Humanitarian Relief (eg following wars, conflict and famine)
•Poverty Relief (eg in the slums, favelas and shantytowns)
•Environmental Relief (eg after floods, droughts and desertification)
Climate change, natural disasters, emergencies, conflict, drought and famine are increasing with millions of refugees left without a home.
For the first time in history more people live in cities than in rural areas, putting a massive strain on food and water supplies, housing, transport, healthcare and sanitation.
There were 45 million refugees and internally displaced people in 2004 alone. We can expect at least 200 million additional environmental refugees over the next 50 years.
There will be another natural or man-made disaster sooner or later...and one after that.
Ecoshelter is preparing for them now!
Ecoshelter is a new charity coalition. It is a Registered Trading Name of Tsunami Relief (UK Charity Commission Reg 1107754 and UK Companies House Reg 5328359).
Ecoshelter’s charity partners include Rotary International, Architects For Aid, Global Promise and The International Aid Trust. Other humanitarian aid agencies will be awarded grants, project funding and direct assistance from Ecoshelter.
Ecoshelter CIC (Community Interest Company) seeks to raise social and philanthropic investment to develop a range of sustainable living solutions.
It will also employ leading-edge professionals, hired at preferential rates, to consult on different aspects Ecoshelter’s activities including management, communications, IT, event production and ethical practices.
